Crowns
A dental crown is a full-coverage restoration used when a tooth is significantly weakened, for example due to fracture, extensive decay or following root canal treatment.
While crowns still have an important place in dentistry, they are not always the first option.
Where appropriate, we explore more conservative alternatives before recommending full coverage, as once a tooth is prepared for a crown, that structure cannot be regained.
Crowns are custom-made using materials such as:
Porcelain for natural aesthetics
Porcelain fused to zirconia or metal for added strength
Treatment involves preparing the tooth, taking precise impressions, and placing a temporary restoration while the final crown is made. On the second visit, the crown is bonded into place.
The decision to proceed with a crown is always made carefully, with long-term function and tooth longevity in mind.
What If I’m Unsure What I Need?
Many patients arrive unsure of what treatment is appropriate.
That is completely normal.
Treatment recommendations are always based on a comprehensive assessment. During your consultation, we explain findings clearly and outline options so you can make informed decisions without pressure.
