Biomimetic Restorations

Biomimetic restorations are designed to rebuild teeth in a way that supports their natural structure and function.

Rather than preparing teeth aggressively for full-coverage crowns as a first step, we often use bonded techniques that allow us to stabilise compromised areas while preserving healthy tooth structure.

In many cases, it’s about doing less, but doing it more precisely.

This may involve:

  • Removing only infected or weakened tooth structure

  • Sealing the tooth using adhesive bonding techniques

  • Rebuilding lost structure using layered restorative materials

Biomimetic restorations are commonly used for:

  • Cracked teeth

  • Failing large fillings

  • Teeth weakened by decay

  • Structural reinforcement after fracture

This approach helps reduce stress within the tooth, supports its natural biomechanics, and importantly, keeps future treatment options open.

Depending on the size and condition of the tooth, treatment may be completed in one visit (composite) or two visits (ceramic inlay/onlay).

What If I’m Unsure What I Need?

Many patients arrive unsure of what treatment is appropriate.

That is completely normal.

Treatment recommendations are always based on a comprehensive assessment. During your consultation, we explain findings clearly and outline options so you can make informed decisions without pressure.
